Custom cabinetry can take your home to a completely new level of elegance, class, charm, or whatever mood you are trying to set in your home. The beauty of custom cabinetry is that there are no rules, and and we can build nearly anything you can dream up. Whether that dream involves wood, metal, high gloss laminate, barn wood, or glass, we have been able to complete every project ever brought to us.
We are one of the few companies in Utah that can produce all 3 of the main types of cabinetry, and we build each of them to a phenomenally high standard.
Face Frame Cabinetry
Face frame cabinets typically have a 1 1/2″ frame on the front of the cabinet box, and then the cabinet door sits on top/in front of that face frame. You can then choose how much you want the door to overlay the face frame. With a full overlay door, there will be hardly any face frame showing. With a 1/2″ overlay door, there will be 1″ of face frame exposed around the perimeter of the door.
In this picture of a 1″ overlay door, you can see the spacing between the cabinet doors, especially on the base cabinets, where the face frame is exposed.
Wood Species:
We can construct face frame cabinets out of any of our standard wood species. We can also use our Remington style.
Lead Times: 4-6 weeks
Euro/Frameless Cabinetry
With a euro style or frameless cabinet, the box carcass will be finished out with an edge band material. We can construct the boxes out of nearly any type of melamine or plywood material to meet our customers specifications and use requirements, and we can either use a synthetic edge band or a 1/4″ real wood edge band. All doors will be a full overlay with a maximum of 1/8″ reveal between any doors or drawers.
This particular kitchen was built using 3/4″ maple plywood boxes with a synthetic edge band. All the drawers were 3/4″ maple dovetail drawer boxes with a 3/8″ bottom with soft close undermount glides.
Wood Species:
We can construct euro/frameless cabinets out of any of our standard wood species. We can only construct our high gloss and textured laminate door styles using this method. We can also use our Remington style.
Lead Times:
Textured or High Gloss: 2.5-4 weeks
Painted or stained wood: 3-5 weeks
Inset Cabinetry
The Utah Cabinet Company is one of the few places in the state that offers custom inset cabinetry, and we offer exceptional quality in the construction of our inset cabinetry. This type of cabinet has a face frame on the outside, but instead of having the door lay over top of the face frame, they are set inside of the face frame and the front of the door and the front of the face frame are on the same plane. A small gap exists around the door of 3/32″ to allow the door to properly function. These cabinets are very high end, very custom, and the most expensive of the custom cabinet options.
While The Utah Cabinet Company offers different levels of construction on our other two methods of construction to meet the needs and budget of our clients, our inset cabinetry is a little different. We will not allow a base package to be installed when we produce inset cabinets. These cabinets are meant to be a show piece for the home that they are going in, and because of the amount of time that goes into building them and installing them correctly, we will only offer our premium upgrades as standards on our inset cabinets.
